ideas bonanza 010: You May Also Want to Buy...
Lots of people have a list when they do grocery shopping. You follow your list, which comprises of things in random order as you write. You run around aisle from aisle. Alternatively, there’re iPhone apps that sort your items by their locations.
But what role does a supermarket play in reminding or recommending relevant items? Say, you bought some bread, there’s a little card next to...

biscuits
i’m sad to say i’m no longer a biscuit person.
A fond childhood memory is mom awarding me with bags of yummy M&S cheese triangles when i patiently studied with her. Still love them, but i’m finding the dryness of biscuits too much for my mouth. i guess i’ll have to keep looking for some really good ones.

the mansion that doesn't exist?
Lately my brain has been so active when I sleep I don’t think I’m getting enough quality sleep:(
In one of the episodes, I went to a huge mansion somewhere in the UK to live with a family temporarily. Having my camera with me, even in my dream I worked very hard to frame the person I was shooting before some gorgeous doors. I think I didn’t nail the shot…
I have this...

ideas bonanza 009: Elbow Bibs
It feels natural resting our arms on the table, but very often we do so without checking if the table is clean. In many places the tables are almost never cleaned, inevitably we end up embarrassing ourselves with debris stuck on our elbows.
The Elbow Bibs are two patches with elastics to strap onto your elbows. Fold to store when not in use. They’re waterproof & machine-washable.

Today
i have always know my mental health is super high maintenance, but other than discovering my conditions and sometimes over analyzing them, i don’t think i have tried really hard to improve my mental health.
But i’m glad i’m consciously working on it now. That is, i try to keep my negative emotions from lingering too long, and i’m not letting myself to be hurt so easily (be...

1994
Bro said he found a tube of wasabi in a kitchen drawer. It expired in 1994 - 17 long years ago. I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s so ridiculous yet so typical of the Poon’s household.
Then i remembered 1994. Not only Mom would still be around, Grandma would too. In fact it was the year she died, the first death I experienced. Other deaths followed, that of real people I know.
I...

ideas bonanza 008: shit alert for smartphones
This one is inspired by my 10min walk to the nearest station from home. It’s a pleasant walk, with very nice marina views. Problem is, not everyone cares to pick up after their dogs and there’re quite a lot of dog shit to watch out for. And at night, there are very few street lights.
This smartphone app tracks your usual routes with this specific purpose. Run it when you leave for...

Got woken up in time
in my dream, I met up with a close friend & her friends. We were eating pears. Someone asked who bought the pears (my friend did). Someone said my mom did. I was plunged into contemplating how long mom has gone & started feeling miserable.
All of a sudden LC woke me up, as if he knew I would be more & more upset if I continue my dream:)

ideas bonanza 007: Electric Jacket
There’re electric blankets. Given we spend a lot of time out of bed they don’t help in all coldness.
The Electric Jacket operates on a similar level, plug and heat, unplug when warm and ready to wear. To minimize weight, the heating device isn’t integrated and should not heat above normal body temperature. There could also be electric trousers, mittens, socks etc.

ideas bonanza 006: Pancake Jerky
There’re food that you can’t eat on the go, and pancake is one of them. For people who loves pancakes for breakfast the Pancake Jerky is good news. It’s mini pancake fried with syrup till they’re hard (sort of like jerky but not as hard). Just grab some in a bag, so not knife & fork needed and no mess from sticky syrup.

ideas bonanza 005: Taste Shop
this one was inspired by the super strict custom rules on what you can bring into Australia:)
If you, like me, love browsing supermarkets when you’re travelling in a foreign land, you’re likely to have experienced this problem. You see food you’d love to try but not necessarily want to buy them in packs, like you see a hugh packet of chocolate and all you want is a small piece...

ideas bonanza 004: airlines' A+ loyalty programme
You join the club and get points for the milage you’ve flown. Big deal. A loyal-er programme is one where you commit in advance to buying flights for the future. Say, I hereby buy 10 return flights from this airline to Hong Kong wherever I will be. You pay a deposit but they give you a discount, of course:)

So often road blocks take place late at night so works may not hinder day traffic.
Lately my nose has been blocked every night. I’m taking it as a sign of my body having some emergency fix or necessary upgrade…

ideas bonanza 003: helmet handbag
You park your bike but your helmet you have to hold on to, coz there’s nowhere to store it. Turn it into a handbag. Adjust the head strap to use on shoulder. Pull flap from inside of the helmet to use as cover. It’s robust, perfect for things like mobile phones & cameras.

in my dream
I like how sometimes in my dreams I was mistreated by Al (nothing serious, just silly things like he took my meal away when I hadn’t finished or he walked right pass because he didn’t see me).
The next morning, I would jokingly complain to him, asking him why he would come to my dream and mistreat me. That often leave him defenceless haha:)

ideas bonanza 002: roll-on body warmer
background: 1. was using a roll-on deodorant like thingy to soothe my stiff neck recently. 2. it’s getting cold these days especially in the morning.
how often when you wake up in the morning and it’s so cold outside that all you wanna do is stay in your warm cozy bed?
the substance is similar to deodorant, but non sticky & doesn’t smell.
use this roll-on on your arms & neck, feel the...

punishment
on our way home tonight, Alastair and i chatted about what ultimate punishment we would impose on each other if needed. i came up with deleting all the geotags in his photos (which he has spent so much time in mapping), or resetting all his photos to the same date. i was so excited about my ideas i couldn’t remember his! duh i hope he’s not doing the same to me haha

ideas bonanza 001: zip carpets
Ever want carpets at home for warmth in winter but want floors in summer?
Ever got frustrated with carpet cleaning?
The zip carpets are pieces of 12”x12” carpets with inconspicuous zips on all sides. Now you can custom perfect sizes and colorurs for your floors!
They’re relatively small in size and machine washable so perfect for homes!

frozen pizzas are normally for 2 to share.
smaller ones? they don’t taste as good…

i don't know what logic this is but...
i sent Alastair (who is in San Francisco) this message:
“i made some fish soup today (white fish +onion +carrot +tomato +leeks +other veg), it’s SUPER delishh! Sadly you’re not here to taste!”
Actually, deep down i was remembering the times when mom said similar things to me (but my fish soup was really good^^).
He sent back a rather standard “wish i could taste...

haircut
The last time I gave myself a cut (big cut, not trim) was Jan 2009, 2 days before mom died.
Everything in life has fallen under either before / after her death. i find it difficult to re-engage in many “before” activities, like cutting my own hair.
Tonight, i did it. It was the same mushroom shape as last year, but shorter:)
Mom was an excellent scissorhands. My diy reminds me of...

have a break, have a kit kat!
i played with the foil wrapping all the time when i was a kid, carefully making the logo come on the foil without breaking it or smudging it too much so the chocolate melts. it’s part of the ritual of enjoying a bar of kit kat.
it used to be 4 fingers though, which comes in plastic bag packaging now. that’s ok, i can live with the 2 fingers. i only wish they’d stop adding the...
